Continuing Support Program

Continuing Support Program for Lone Soldiers dismissed from the IDF Service(Pilot under Revision)

The Army and other authorities are prepared for the release of the lone soldier from the IDF service. Beginning with the IDF’s Preparation for Release workshop and leading to courses proposed by various organizations in the subjects of employment, studies and more.
Beit Kobi seeks to develop an ongoing relationship with the lone soldier. The professional knowledge that is acquired at Beit Kobi along with the organization’s uniqueness in developing a community-based, emotional security net for the lone soldier are part of the mix in the innovative Continuing Support Program for Dismissed Lone Soldiers.

The Goal
Help the lone soldier make the transition from the IDF framework to civilian life in a good and honorable fashion.

Target Population
Lone soldiers, prior to their release

Program Structure
A professional coordinator will direct the soldiers individually regarding relevant subjects for the starting out civilian such as: choosing a profession and area of study, finance possibilities, finding employment and a place to live. Accompaniment is provided on a unique individual basis at Beit Kobi. During the accompaniment period (around 3 months prior to release and up to 8 months following release) the coordinator meets with the soldier in a fixed manner and maintains steady telephone contact.
How is the project innovative or unique?
This is a pioneer project based on individual accompaniment. There is currently no framework for close accompaniment of lone soldiers from the period before their release up until they sign a contract for an apartment, register for studies, etc.
